Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer virtual anxiety & OCD therapy?
Yes. I offer virtual therapy for anxiety and OCD to clients located throughout Connecticut and New York. Virtual sessions allow you to receive specialized care from the comfort of your own home, without needing to travel to an office.
Do you treat OCD with ERP?
Yes. I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), an evidence-based treatment for OCD, when it is appropriate for your needs. ERP helps you gradually face feared thoughts, situations, or uncertainties while learning to reduce compulsions, reassurance seeking, avoidance, and other behaviors that keep the OCD cycle going.
Do you work with adults, children, and teens?
Yes. I work with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing anxiety and OCD. Treatment is individualized based on your age, developmental needs, symptoms, and goals. When working with children and teens, parent involvement may be incorporated into treatment when appropriate.
What types of anxiety do you treat?
I work with a range of anxiety concerns, including generalized anxiety, panic attacks and panic disorder, social anxiety, specific phobias, separation anxiety, health anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and anxiety related to avoidance and safety behaviors.
Do you accept insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance directly. I can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan, so I recommend contacting your insurance company to understand your specific benefits.
What is a superbill?
A superbill is a document that contains information your insurance company may need to process an out-of-network mental health claim. I provide superbills for eligible services, but reimbursement is determined by your individual insurance plan.
How often are therapy sessions?
Session frequency depends on your individual needs, treatment goals, and treatment plan. Many clients begin with weekly sessions, while others may benefit from a different schedule. We can determine what makes sense for you as we begin working together.
How long does anxiety or OCD therapy take?
There is no set timeline for therapy. The length of treatment depends on factors such as the concerns you’re experiencing, how long you’ve been struggling, your goals, and your response to treatment. My goal is to provide focused, evidence-based treatment while supporting meaningful and lasting progress.
What happens during the first therapy session?
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and discuss what brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about your symptoms, concerns, history, and goals and begin developing a treatment plan that fits your needs.
Do I need an OCD diagnosis to start therapy?
No. You do not need to have an OCD diagnosis before reaching out. If you’re experiencing intrusive thoughts, compulsions, reassurance seeking, avoidance, or other symptoms that make you wonder whether OCD may be involved, we can discuss your concerns and determine whether OCD treatment may be appropriate.
Do you work with clients throughout Connecticut and New York?
Yes. I provide virtual therapy to clients located throughout Connecticut and New York. Because sessions are virtual, you do not need to live near my office to receive therapy, as long as you are physically located in a state where I am licensed to practice.
Do you provide care navigation? How is it different from therapy?
Yes. I offer care navigation for individuals and families who aren’t sure what type of mental health support they need. Care navigation is different from therapy and can help you determine what type of evaluation, therapy, medication management, or other support may be appropriate. Care navigation is available nationwide.
