I Choose to Try

I Choose to Try

As Covid-19 cases surge, our anxiety does too. With that anxiety comes the doubt about our ability to handle uncertainty. Let’s talk about this with a current example from my life.

My Anxiety

I am personally anxious about the impact this surge will have on my kids. I am frustrated with the schools and the governor for not doing more to protect them. I could get stuck in this. I could lose sleep over it. I am, however, going to practice what I preach.

What do I preach?

You guessed it! Take action! Ask myself,“What do I have control over?”

In my case, I can bring my concerns to the attention of the school through an email or phone call. I can call the Governor’s office. I can remind my kids on how to properly wear their mask and wash their hands, without creating fear in them!

While all of these things may do absolutely nothing with making changes at their school or with the Governor, I can say I did everything I could with what I had control over.

You can choose to focus on the possibility of everything you do not working, or you can choose to do it anyway!

I will always choose to try and I encourage my patients to do the same.

For you, where do you have control to take action?

Uncertainty

As I’ve said before, you tolerate more uncertainty than you even know! Please check out my social media post from December 18th for a refresher.

Don’t let the anxiety of Covid-19 lead you to believe the lies anxiety monster tells you.

If you didn’t know about your ability to tolerate uncertainty, now you know!
