Hi, I’m Andrea Nave, MA, LPC, LMHC.
I have completed extensive specialty training in anxiety, OCD, ADHD, and child and adolescent mental health through nationally recognized programs, including the Program for Anxiety and Mood Disorders at Yale Child Study Center, the Anxiety Disorders Center/Center for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy at the Institute of Living, Bellevue Hospital, NYU Child Study Center, the Child/Adolescent Treatment Center (CAT-C), the Institute for Behavior Therapy, and Fordham University’s Compulsive, Obsessive, and Anxiety Program (COAP).
My research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, the Journal of Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders, and Brain Imaging and Behavior.
I am passionate about understanding where anxiety and other emotional or behavioral difficulties are coming from, rather than simply treating the symptoms. I take a comprehensive approach to treatment and considers how factors such as ADHD, autism, learning differences, emotional regulation, behavior, family dynamics, parenting patterns, and trauma may contribute to or interact with anxiety and other concerns. My goal is to help children, adolescents, and families understand the underlying patterns contributing to their difficulties and develop effective, evidence-based strategies for change.
I specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for anxiety and OCD, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), as well as evidence-based treatment for ADHD and parent-based interventions. I have particular expertise in supporting parents of anxious children and children with ADHD, including the use of SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions). I also work with families to reduce accommodation, strengthen effective parenting strategies, improve emotional regulation, and break cycles of anxiety and generational trauma. I am an ADHD-Clinical Services Provider, a Grassroots Advocate for the International OCD Foundation, and am trauma-informed.
In addition to therapy, I also offer care navigation services for individuals and families who need guidance understanding treatment options, finding appropriate providers, and determining the next steps in their mental health journey. Patients often describe my style as direct, down-to-earth, funny, and practical. I believe therapy should feel collaborative and empowering, giving you real-life tools you can use outside of our sessions.
Whether you’re looking for therapy, parent guidance, care navigation, or practical resources through the How to Beat Anxiety blog, I’m glad you’re here. I look forward to helping you or your family take the next step toward a calmer, more confident life.
Your cheerleader,
Andrea Nave, LPC, LMHC
